As I write this it is Halloween. This time of the year we see ads on TV for every scary movie made and a lot of gross stuff assault our eyes, even during family viewing times. This makes me wonder how all these images effect our small children. I hate to think they get so used to beheaded people the they don’t notice it any more.
We can try to limit the exposure our kids have with this kind of media, but as I said, ads come even during children’s viewing times. Unless we turn the TV off they will be exposed. The best comfort we can give is reassurance of the care we give and the knowledge that God is in control. Starting young with comforting Christian children’s books may help. As the VeggieTales tell them not to be afraid, you can also reassure them of your love and protection, and protection the comes from God and lasts for eternity.
Even four year olds can play this Christian card game. Veggie Tale characters can be built in puzzle form with anywhere from 2 to 8 cards. The object is to be able to play the most completed puzzles down, and there are chances to swap cards and interact as you play. There’s no reading or numbers for little ones to worry about.
The more time you spend playing with your kids, the more easily they find they can come to you with their everyday troubles and problems. Enjoy the time you have with them when they are small, they grow up so fast. If you have 2 little ones, they can entertain themselves with this game also.
This is a great Christmas gift. It’s unusual and fun and contains your kid’s favorite VeggieTale characters. The VeggieTales are the greatest of Christian animated characters and entertain your kids with stories that have morals and entertaining plot lines. This 200 piece puzzle is the largest VeggieTale puzzle we’ve found, and your kids may require your help in finishing it. Isn’t it great to be needed? The puzzle comes in a bottle and is themed on the Veggie Tales pirate movie.
Discuss the movie and the scene depicted while putting it together with your kids. Store the puzzle in its convenient bottle so you can relive the adventure again and again.
If your kids are in to the Veggie Tales, and can call the tomato by name, they will love extending the story-time to these puzzles. There are Veggie Tale puzzles for every age group of child. This is also a fun activity to do with your children, and you can talk over the associated story while doing the puzzle.
You will find I am always encouraging activity that doesn’t involve the TV. TV doesn’t encourage sharing and open discussion. Get to know your kids over a Veggie Tale puzzle.
In today’s financial market and the questionable things that go on around us everyday, it’s easy to worry, wonder, and despair. Charles Stanley explains why we don’t need to. God’s Word is definite on this point.
A reminder that He is in control through Christian books and great authors is always a strength and help when we see things falling apart, blowing up, and going to pieces. We wonder about the moral condition of the children growing up around us and our own, who are immersed in their society. We are concerned about what our kids learn in school and out of school.
Spend some time studying on why we don’t need to despair. See this world and your own with God’s perspective.
Self introspection: not one of our favorite occupations. Joyce Meyers has a way of making us think practically about ourselves and our lives using Biblical perspective and practical, everyday insight. Using her Christian books as a part of our study time can open our eyes to things we’d rather not think about, but need to, yet she is fun and entertaining to read.
This is her latest offering and dares us to consider our motives, to do what we love to do (God gave us that pleasure for a reason) and dream big. She gives lots of easy to follow tips that encourage us along the way. We need God’s word as part of our everyday study, but authors who have put time into knowing themselves and God can help us see things more clearly.
Some games are just designed for kids: they’re fast moving and keep you on your toes. OK, so there’s some kid in all of us. My suggestion for this fast moving Christian card game is great for car trips. It’s very portable and entertaining, takes a quick eye and sharp mind. The time will fly by for your kids in the back seat.
But it’s also fun at home, and you might want to try your hand at keeping up with your kids on this one. Have you lost your speed? No watching TV out of the corner of your eye, or you’ll lose!
When I first got to college, I was thrown into a world of debauchery, temptation and excess. It’s not that I was expecting my peers to share my specific beliefs; I was merely surprised at the prevalence of drinking, premarital sex and even hard drug use. My roommate was a nice enough guy, but he would often invite me to go out drinking with him on the weekends. Other times his friends would come over and they would play various drinking games.
Now that I have a family of my own, I recognize how important it is to instill good values in my children. Just because I managed to resist most of the earthly temptations I encountered at school, it doesn’t mean my own kids will be so lucky. By exposing them to Christian board games at a young age, I hope to show them that there are other ways to have fun without resorting to hedonism.
One of the first games we’re able to grasp as children is memory. It’s fun and good for the brain, Yours and your child’s.
The most amazing thing I’ve found playing memory with my children and grandchildren is that they frequently win! There are not a lot of games you can play with young children that actually give them the edge. This is a great confidence booster for them, and let’s face it, our egos can take an occasional loss.
Christian games are what we’re all about, so this memory game is 2×2, Noah’s animals, how appropriate can you get. So match the two giraffes, lions, etc and fill Noah’s ark. Have fun with your little ones, they grow up so fast!
I have wonderful memories of playing dominoes when I was growing up. This is a fun game for a group and easy for younger children to pick up. A popular domino game is Mexican Train, which is a version of run-out dominoes. This can be played with regular dominoes and a table.
An new dimension can be added with a Mexican Train Hub. Sound effects, train playing pieces and a stable base for starting the game adds excitement and interest. This is a great addition to a Christian gathering. So if your family or group enjoys dominoes as a regular entertainment, consider the additional fun-making of the hub and its paraphernalia.
