Dealing with Life with Christian Comics

Author: Carol T

Andycomic2Comics always make one think of frivolous, wasted time spent with Superman and the Green Lantern, and many Christian parents feel that time could be better spent. But comics are also a great way to get your kids reading, and interested in wanting to improve their reading.

The Rise of David comics are an entertaining combination of Bible story, Andy’s own life problems he must deal with, and an imaginary world of super heroes and daring rescues. This comic will get your kids interested and away from the TV and they will be learning about the life of David and the very real adventure he had in escaping Saul and becoming king. Comics don’t have to be a waste of time when they’re Christian comics. Check out the story-lines available by clicking on the link.

Reading For Enjoyment and Growth

Author: Carol T

ArmorQuestsm_1You’re standing in your child’s room and looking around you. What reading material are you seeing? Stories based on popular logo characters? Secular adventure or “youth” books? The literature we provide for our children to read influences a lot of their growth and development, their view of life.

Christian comics are a great way to encourage reading that can have positive impacts on your children’s lives. Armour Quest is a great example of an uplifting, exciting story that teaches while it entertains. Follow Timothy as he seeks to join the forces of good against the evil that has turned his world upside down. He meets a lot of interesting characters and learns to use positive weapons against negative foes. Help your children see the world, and their own part in it from God’s perspective.

In the Beginning

Author: Carol T

archangels_the_fall_boxset1Most of Christiandom is very familiar with the story of the creation of sin and man’s fall and the consequences. But you’ve never heard it like this before. Archangels the Fall tells the story in graphic novel in a way that will grab the attention of any reader. It’s a great way of getting your kids firmly grounded in the way things really happened, rather then the way secular tales lead them to believe.

Christian comic books are a great way to get your kids interested in reading. I child who has no interest will struggle to improve when the material is eye catching and intriguing. The 3 book box set of the entire Fall series would make a guilt-free Christmas present for any reading age child or adult. This would also be great for new Christians who need better grounding in the Truth.

God Made Me Special

Author: Carol T

godmadyouSometimes I’m not too proud of the things I do and say and its necessary for me to go to the Lord and make it right, and to go to other people and make it right, which isn’t my favorite thing to do. But no matter what I do, I have learned that I am what God made me.

My natural man aside, I have characteristics and abilities that God planned for me to have before the creation of the world. This is a remarkable thought, one we need to pass on to our children even at a very young age. It took me a long time to learn this and be satisfied with who I am and I would hope for better for my children. Gentle reaffirming words in Christian children’s books can start them on this road much younger. Teach your children that they are wonderful in God’s eyes and made for an eternity with Him.

I Am Not Afraid

Author: Carol T

iamnotafraidAs I write this it is Halloween. This time of the year we see ads on TV for every scary movie made and a lot of gross stuff assault our eyes, even during family viewing times. This makes me wonder how all these images effect our small children. I hate to think they get so used to beheaded people the they don’t notice it any more.

We can try to limit the exposure our kids have with this kind of media, but as I said, ads come even during children’s viewing times. Unless we turn the TV off they will be exposed. The best comfort we can give is reassurance of the care we give and the knowledge that God is in control. Starting young with comforting Christian children’s books may help. As the VeggieTales tell them not to be afraid, you can also reassure them of your love and protection, and protection the comes from God and lasts for eternity.
